This day one year ago, we lost a Hip Hop legend. Whether he was with Preemo as Gang Starr or with various artists doing Jazzmatazz; Guru always repped Hip Hop to the fullest. His voice was so distinct that it is embedded in the minds of Hip Hop fans all over the world. Although his death was tragic and untimely, we should focus on the life of Gifts Unlimited Rhymes Universal. Here are a few freestyles performed over some classic Hip Hop beats. Major props to DJ Step One for releasing these from his vaults. RIP GURU

The rhyme Guru spit on Nas’s instrumental “Nas Is Like” was written for & recorded on the track “Propaganda” in Burbank @ Wishing Well Studios back in 2003. Guru also wrote “Don’t Start None” at my studio. “Losin Control” with Krumbsnatcha was written back East. Just stating the facts. Peace.
