Hip Hop is more than just beats and rhymes. At its core, this music of ours was created to be the mouthpiece and earpiece of the streets. An expression of the people. Like Yasiin Bey says, “We are Hip Hop”. This is exactly the energy that Kensho Kuma’s “Immigrant Anthem” is bringing.
This is an audible protest responding to the issues facing our immigrant communities. Major props to Kensho for facing this issue. It seems like Hip Hop artists nowadays stay neutral in fear of losing a fan base. Like Hamilton says, “If you stand for nothing, what’ll you fall for?” Listen to and share this joint. Peace.
