The Hip Hop community lost a true gem this week. The legendary Roy Ayers passed away this week. Chances are if you’re a fan of Hip Hop music you’ve come across his instrumentation or a sample of his music. His willingness to contribute/mentor the next generation of artists was a true gift. Artist such as Mary J. Blige, Common, Kanye West, The Roots, Brand Nubian, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and so many others either sample or collaborated with Roy in one way or another. Thank you Mr. Ayers for sharing your gift and for making timeless music. Rest in Peace.
