Obie Trice – Battle Cry
Whenever I have a discussion about Obie Trice, the word “Eminem” comes up. I guess when you’re associated to such a super successful MC; that’s bound to happen. Obie is nice lyrically but has the (in my opinion) “Memphis Bleek” curse. That’s when a major artist puts you on and everyone has “VERY HIGH” 1st album expectations. It’s like Nas putting on AZ, Eminem putting out Obie, and Jay-Z putting out Beanie Sigel. I think they all had great 1st albums but when compared to the people that put them on……there’s no comparison. Anyway, look out for Obie’s latest project set to drop on August 23rd. Peace.

I’ve dug Obie since i was in the “D”(where there’s something in the water,& population of city is just under a million.Be scary if it was that even half our tri-state.)So it was late ’97 so i guess they had gotten love they were playing B&C theme(“just the 2 of us-props” ta’ grover W.)& “I just don’t give a….” now peep where live it got real dope for me,cuz i heard of Em.Hadn’t heard anything but dope freestyles.So as you may or may not know.BOSS.the Female mc from def jam w/ hits like Deeper(dope song).But her 1st single was called guess.yes.correct.I don’t give a fuck.So the dj’s killin’ it,lettin’ an Em lyric finish her sentence & vice-versa.Great memory in the vault.That night i wen’t to see Obie,Proof(rip,)& no Em.Guess what they still tore ‘ish up.-peace bredren
