KRS-ONE once said “Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it. Bronx keeps creating it, and Queens keeps on faking it”. Yes, Hip Hop started out in the Bronx and Joe Conzo was instrumental in documenting it. Joe has been a photographer since he was in elementary school and never looked back. In the late 70’s, he linked up with the Cold Crush and captured moments in Hip Hop history that would’ve been forgotten if it weren’t for Joe and his lens. Despite all the hurdles that one faced growing up in the Bronx during that period, Joe persevered and continued his photographic journey. Now a member of the legendary RockSteady Crew, Joe Conzo aka Joey Snaps is still documenting Hip Hop history and representing Hispanic culture to the fullest. The 7th Boro salutes Joe Conzo for documenting the art we love so much.
If you would like to see more of Joe’s photographs, I suggest you pick this up.
