On May 9th 2025, we lost a great person named Victor Vignale. I’m writing this post to pay homage to a great friend who greatly contributed to my love for this music. Those who knew Vic know that he had a great heart. He was also one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. His style and his love of creating music made him special.
Those who knew Vic well know that he had a great sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face. One of the last videos he posted on social media was him doing a Spanish Borat. Who would think of such a thing? Who would post a video of themself imitating him? Vic always would light up a room and keep the energy up.
Vic had a love for the night sky. He could lose himself just staring at the stars. He often took photos of the moon, capturing its glow like it was something personal to him. In a world that moved fast, Vic always took a moment to look up. He also had a passion for calligraphy, carefully crafting each letter like it was art, showing that even in his words, he had style and soul.
I wouldn’t be representing my friend if I didn’t talk about his love for music. I thought I was a Hip Hop head until I met Vic. He put me on so much music. The first time I heard Common’s “I Used to Love Her” was in Vic’s attic. Who could forget the time he almost put his fist through a wall listening to Busta’s E.L.E. album? The first time I heard the Roots was in his attic. Dead Prez, Lyricist Lounge, Slum Village, Crucial Conflict, Bone Thugs, were all introduced to me by Vic. I chose to honor Vic on this blog because the truth is, if I didn’t meet Victor “Cos” Vignale, there would be no 7th Boro.
