If you follow “underground” hip hop, most likely you’ve heard the name The Bad Seed. And if not, you need to ask somebody. From the Makin’ Records / O.B.S. days with Jean Grae and Pumpkinhead, to appearing on major label projects with Funkmaster Flex and Mims, Seed has definitely made his mark over the years. Along with his extensive discography of solid to stellar releases, his newest offering ‘Four Finger Ring II’ does not disappoint. This latest album is a follow up to 2022’s Four Finger Ring. And for the 2nd installment, he’s recruited some serious heat from producers Nam Nitty, Drawzilla, Shade Cobain, and more. He also brought back some familiar fire, Murda Megz and CJ Dove, with Tone Spliff on all the cuts. Recently I had the chance to get an early preview of FFRII, and if you’re looking for that raw grimey NYC underground Timbs in the summer doing pullups on a street sign sitting on a milk crate smoking a blunt with a pitbull chained up outside of a Brooklyn bodega type of album, this is probably something you’re gonna wanna peep. Honestly, it’s a good, solid album. The beat selection provides the perfect gritty melodic head nodding landscape to Bad Seed’s vivid and captivating street poetry. Whether his subject matter is serious or lighthearted, Seed keeps his words and his production compelling and engaging throughout the entire project.  And as always, Seed is doing this to represent for the memory of his partner in rhyme, the legend PH (Pumpkinhead). So you know he’s not half assing it. Personally, I think this album will definitely make his brother proud. The full album, ‘Four Finger Ring II’ will be officially available on August 29th, but for now you can check out the videos below for his singles “Diddybopolis” and “Ironman”.
