Circa 1991. I’m taking y’all way back with this one! “Down The Line” is my favorite joint from Nice & Smooth’s sophomore album, ‘Ain’t A Damn Thing Changed’, released via The Island Def Jam Music Group. I want to say that DJ Premier produced this but he doesn’t get any production credit. I say this because the beat is VERY similar to Gang Starr’s record, “Words I Manifest”. There is that plus the cuts on it sound like Premo. Also “Gang Starr” is credited with a feature and not just “Guru” who rapped on it and we all know that Gang Starr is Guru and Premier. So I’m going to say yea, Premier probably did the beat. Enjoy!
