So I was chillin with Mills eating some picadera right…..I ask him “Yo, If you could make you’re own version of Triumph….who would you put on it? We went back and forth for about two hours discussing who would be on it and it what order. I thought it’d be a good idea to ask the same questions to D-Stroy. “What do you think was a better album……ATCQ’s Low End Theory or Midnight Marauders?”
Those albums were good albums. I associate releases to what i did when they came out so for Midnight Marauders i went out 2 a club for the 1st time and seen DJ Kid Capri rock so that might have to be the better one. However, losing my virginity to People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm takes the cake.

In your opinion, what was the best year in hip hop?
a lot of people say 86 and I’m proud to say I own almost every release that came out. Honestly any year before Biggie and Pac died. Puffy made shit “different” but their deaths changed the tone and vibe of a lot of things in our culture.

What was going through your head the first time you heard Big Pun?
Wow, I was hype. As a latino, with Cypress Hill only to respect cause even the black hip hop community embraced them. I was empowered by his response from the industry. from a lyrical stand point, we were all blown away.

If you could make your own version of triumph. What MC’s would you put on?
Triumph…..what a dope beat, that RZA took credit for cause nothing on that album sounds like Triumph. The beat would be RMX’d by J.Dilla 3 verses Big Pun, Big L and Guru go line for line for only 16. Roc Raida on the cuts. While Frosty Freeze of the Rock Steady Crew Dances in the video.

I was born and raised in Bushwick the war stories, jumped dudes, got jumped, Rhyme/B-Boy Battles, fingered obese chicks. I was there. Puerto Rico was culture, pride, language and identity I needed.
