Only Built 4 Cuban Linx (OB4CL) dropped August 1st 1995
On this date 18 years ago Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon dropped his freshman album titled, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. August 1st 1995 marked a great day in Hip Hop history. Rae had dropped some ill verses on Wu-Tang’s 36 Chambers joint and this album was very much anticipated. I remember hearing “Glaciers Of Ice” for the first time and just thinking, “F**K THIS IS DOPE!” I still think Glaciers is the Rza’s best work. Notable tracks include Criminology, Glaciers Of Ice, Verbal Intercourse, and Ice Cream. The whole album is a classic all the way through.
In celebration of Raekwon’s classic, Get On Down Records drops this Limited Edition cassette version of the Purple Tape. Package comes with Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album on cassette with cover, a hard cover Raekwon slip case, two stickers of the original “Purple Tape” (Sides 1 & 2). Major Ups to Up North Trips for this goodness!
