Last week, I had the most epic night when I took my wife on a date to the Blue Note NYC. We were in for a treat as we got to witness some incredible performances by the legendary Black Thought, Robert Glasper, Chris Dave, Derrick Hodge, DJ Jahi Sundance, and surprise guest Common.
As soon as I sat down, I couldn’t believe my eyes – across from me was none other than the RZA himself! And if that wasn’t enough, Flava Flav was sitting on the other side of me. It was like being in a hip-hop dream!
The night only got better when Common took the stage and delivered an unforgettable performance. But it didn’t stop there – Flava Flav surprised everyone with an impromptu freestyle that had the crowd going wild. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the RZA (Bobby Digital sound effects and everything) dropped an unreleased verse that left us all in awe. I became a H.E.R. fan that night also, she delivered some melodic goodness form her table. I didn’t know how talented she is previous to that night.
Chris Dave proved why he’s known as a beast on drums and Black Thought showcased exactly why he’s considered a legend in the game. It truly was a legendary night that will be etched in our memories forever.
