James “J Dilla” Yancey: (February 7th, 1974 – February 10th, 2006)
Today we celebrate the birthday and legacy of Jay Dee. J Dilla was a true renaissance man in terms of music production. He was a talented DJ, a talented MC, and a legendary producer. His ability to create music was simply amazing. He collaborated with some of Hip Hop’s best such as The Roots, Mos Def, Common, ATCQ, De La Soul, and countless others. His production took these artists to the next level by adding that signature Jay Dee bounce to their tracks. His legacy and sound will never be forgotten. R.I.P. J Dilla.
