RJ Payne is taking us on a journey through New York City with his latest album, “My Life Iz a Movie Part 1,”. From the hustle and bustle of Manhattan to the hidden gems of Brooklyn. RJ will take us on an unforgettable ride through the streets of NYC. With his unique blend of rap and storytelling, we’ll surely experience all NYC offers. So let’s join RJ as he takes us on a trip around New York City with his new album!
RJ takes us on a smooth, soulful journey; this musical experience begins in the perfect place, Manhattan’s Central Park. On “Central Park Vibes,” RJ’s rhymes over a Stu Bangas’ piano sample will relax you as you contemplate your next move. This is the perfect start to an album that will take you on an unforgettable musical journey.
The Time Hotel is the next stop, and the audible chemistry between RJ and Stu Bangas continues to shine. When I hear this joint, I envision a rooftop bar with stunning city views. The music produced here will remind you of something Nas and AZ would rhyme over in the 90s.
RJ’s “Little Italy” is a cinematic masterpiece. It takes me back to the classic movie “The Godfather,” with its epic lines like “leave the gun, take the cannoli.” RJ continues his lyrical assault on this track, and it’s my favorite song on this album. His words paint a vivid picture of the streets of Little Italy and its culture.
Brooklyn Love is an ode to the borough of Brooklyn, New York. RJ paints a vivid picture of the borough, from Junior’s Cheesecake to the home of Big Daddy Kane, Nostrand Ave to DUMBO, and Flatbush Ave. He also pays homage to Brooklyn’s culture, sipping Casamigos as he rides Stu’s soulful sample. If you want to taste what it’s like to be in Brooklyn, this song is for you!
Queens is the next stop on RJ’s journey, and DJ Doo Wop is there to share a dope Prodigy story. “Jamaica Ave” is my second favorite track off the album – Stu does his thing, and RJ paints a vivid picture of life as a movie. From the 7 train to the dollar van, it’s cinematic Payne at its best!
RJ’s lyrical prowess is displayed on “Long Island Expressway.” Stu brings the boom bap, and RJ comes out swinging like he’s next to George Zimmerman. This track is another example of why RJ Payne has been making waves in hip-hop.
RJ Payne and Stu Bangas have taken us on a journey to the birthplace of Hip Hop with “Bronx Tale.” This track would make the pioneers of Hip Hop very proud. This joint captures the essence of the borough heavily associated with this genre. With each bar, RJ shows us why he should be mentioned with hip hop’s elite.
For RJ, Staten Island is the final stop on his musical journey. On “Staten Island,” he rhymes his way from the Goethals to the Outerbridge, passing through Empire Outlets, Tavern On the Bay, and Stapleton while exploring South Shore’s unique culture. RJ vividly describes one of New York City’s most underrated boroughs.
RJ Payne is one of the most original MCs in Hip Hop, and his latest album, My Life Iz a Movie Part 1, is a testament to that. This journey of Hip Hop goodness takes us through the five boroughs of New York City – Queens, Staten Island, The Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan. Each track paints a vivid picture of life in each borough and the unique culture. RJ Payne brings his own flavor to each track while staying true to classic Hip Hop’s sound. This album is a true example of cinematic Payne at its best! I highly recommend this album.
