The homie Godilla checks in with a few words about an album that I really enjoy, ‘Monoatomic Gold’, by Realio Sparkzwell. I’m always happy to get Godilla’s viewpoint on albums because it’s coming from the perspective of another artist who makes music that I enjoy. Check his thoughts and also have a listen to Realio’s project right here.
After giving this album a few runs, I decided to give Realio Sparkwell’s, ‘Monoatomic Gold’ album a review. The project is solid through and through while upholding the rugged vibes that the east coast atheistic brought us in the 90s and early 2000s. Although this album isn’t breaking any new ground lyrically or musically, it makes up for any predictable concepts with authenticity. Realio Sparkwell has a believable, conversational style that brings the listener into his world. In a day and age where rappers’ social media antics overshadow the actual music, Realio reps while making quality music. His ear for production is top notch reminding me of the days when groups like CNN, The Firm and The Lox were flooding mixtapes. Standout cuts include, “Walking In The Rain”, “Love Of My Life”, “Professional Ism” and my personal favorite, “Andale”. The album has a laid back soulful/street vibe with replay value. Although I’d like to hear a little more variety bpm wise, I commend Realio for sticking to his formula and not forcing any tracks. No bullshit songs or features show homie is on the rise and willing to put in work. The future looks bright for Realio and hopefully this is one of many quality releases. -Godilla
