As a proud resident of New Jersey, I know how it feels to be in the shadow of New York. When I go to Puerto Rico, my family refers to New Jersey as New York…..as if it’s another borough. The Jets and Giants play in New Jersey but belong to New York. Luckily, Hip Hop broke this trend with the likes of The Fugees, Queen Latifah, Naughty, Redman, Artifacts, Apache and many many more MCs who put Jersey on the map. Fast forward to 2011 and New Jersey is still very relevant when it comes to great Hip Hop! Venomous2000 is a perfect example of how Jersey does it and will continue to do it.
